Mynydd Mallaen
Mynydd Mallaen is an expansive plateau that towers over Cilicwm, Rhandirmwyn, over looks Cwrt Y Cadno and the Cothi valley, forming part of the Cambrian Mountain range.
With a high point of 662m (1516 feet) it has commanding 360 degree views in all directions, on a clear day it offers superb views out towards the Central Beacons and the Banana Sir Gaer. At the high point Crugiau Merched (ladies barrows) there are two Bronze Age cairns, which on a rough day can offer a little protection during a lunch stop.

A recording from the ancient standing stone above & below, a tad windy & birds in the background.
Although this is not an incredibly long route it will give you a huge amount of satisfaction and a real big hit of remoteness. You could add a few laps of Cwm Rhaeadr in to the ride to add some km’s or head out to the Doethie Valley.
